How to write a(n)...essay:

How to write an opinion-based essay:

Step 1: Title

Pick a title that makes a statement. The title should give away what the topic of the essay will be and whether you agree or disagree

Step 2: Introduction

The first paragraph should convince the reader to continue to read your essay. In other words, it should get someone ‘hooked’ to the topic of your essay.

The final sentence of your introduction should be a thesis statement. This is a sentence in which you express your opinion and give the readers an idea of what the rest of the essay will be about.

Step 3: Arguments and supporting evidence

In the following paragraphs you will express your arguments, explaining how you’re defending your thesis statement. On top of that you will write about evidence that will support those arguments. This means that your opinion, can not only be supported by things you believe in, but should also be supported by facts.

Step 4: Conclusion

The conclusion of any essay sums up everything you have written  in the previous paragraphs. This means you can never write about new information in a conclusion. Therefore, you only summarize everything you have written about in the essay and conclude why your thesis statement is correct.
